Thursday, August 31st at 3:15pm (Chicago Cultural Center) The Dave Rempis Quintet will be performing their reinterpretation of Jackie McLean's 1967 Blue Note Release ACTION ACTION ACTION. This performance will be featured in the Thursday kick-off of the Chicago Jazz Festival and will take place in Claudia Cassidy Theater at the Chicago Cultural Center. ALBUM BACKGROUND: "One of the consistently intriguing characteristics of Jackie Mclean's jazz is that while he continues to explore new directions, he is also clearly rooted in the fundamentals of modern jazz. Or, as he would put it, "I never want to go 'outside' for too long a time without coming back 'inside' again." This album reveals Jackie both "outside" and "inside" and is an absorbing illustration of how past, present and future interest in his composing and improvising." -Nat Hentoff PERFORMANCES BY: Dave Rempis - Alto Saxophone Russ Johnson - Trumpet Jason Adasiewicz - Vibes Jason Roebke - Bass Mike Reed - Drums ADMISSION & LOCATION: Performance starts at 3:15pm.
