Wednesday, August 18th at 8pm: The Jazz Record Art Collective is proud to present a livestream and in-person performance featuring Neil Carson's Day-Glo Freaks performing Steely Dan's "Gaucho", released in 1980. ALBUM BACKGROUND: "Steely Dan's 37-minute album Gaucho took two years to record and was the most expensive record ever made when it came out on November 21, 1980. The band’s seventh studio album, which followed the triumph of 1977’s Aja, was fraught with major tragedies during production. Gaucho is a testament to fine multitrack record-making, and the attention to detail was remarkable, even in the mixing stage. Despite all the difficulties, Gaucho was a huge commercial success. The New York Times declared it to be the best album of 1980." -Martin Chilton PERFORMANCES BY: Neil Carson - Sax, Lead Vocals Kathryn Lachey - Vocals Maggie Vagle - Vocals Constantine Alexander - Trumpet Corbin Andrick - Tenor Sax Jeff Livorsi - Trombone Dan Burke - Bari/Tenor Sax Zoey Witz - Guitar Brandon Hunt - Guitar Paul Mutzabaugh - Keyboard Andrew Lawrence - Keyboard Andrew Vogt - Bass Zack Marks - Drums Jonathan Marks - Percussion LIVESTREAM ACCESS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pnw9F6af634 IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE: In-person attendance will be limited capacity.
