Wednesday July 25th at 9pm: The Jazz Record Art Collective is proud to present the Geordie Kelly Quartet performing Joe Pass’ Joy Spring, released in 1964. ABLBUM BACKGROUND: “Recorded in February of 1964 live at the Encore Theater in Los Angeles, this album presents Joe Pass in a quartet setting early in his career along with Mike Wofford on piano, Jim Hughart on bass, and Colin Bailey on drums. This album is a bebop date through and through, showing a side of Pass other than the finger picking duet player that he is well-known for. Possessing all of the energy of any great live album, it also showcases wonderful interactions between all the members in the band partaking in imaginative improvisational moments with the cleanliness of a studio album. Unswayed by the free movement in full swing at this time, Pass and his quartet give a compelling performance of music that is easy to listen to yet is also full of great moments for the more discerning listener." ~Gil Bolster PERFORMANCES BY: Geordie Kelly - Guitar Kevin Fort - Piano John Sims - Bass Gustavo Cortiñas - Drums ADMISSION & LOCATION: $10 cover or $5 w/ student ID Doors open at 8pm.
