Wednesday, March 21st at 9pm: Our fourth installment will feature the Ari Brown Quintet performing Adderley’s 1958 Blue Note release, "Something Else". ABLBUM BACKGROUND: “Cannonball Adderley gave up his own band in 1957 when he had the opportunity to become a sideman in Miles Davis' ensemble with John Coltrane, eventually resulting in some of the greatest jazz recordings of all time (including Milestones and Kind of Blue). In March of 1958, Davis returned the favor by appearing alongside Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Art Blakey on Adderley's all-star quintet to date for Blue Note, and the resulting session is indeed "Somethin' Else". Both horn players are at their peak of lyrical invention, crafting gorgeous, flowing blues lines on "Autumn Leaves" and "One for Daddy-O," as the rhythm team creates a taut, focused groove." - Rovi Staff PERFORMANCES BY: Ari Brown - Alto TBA - Trumpet Kirk Brown - Piano Yosef Bin Israel - Bass Avreeayl Ra - Drums https://www.facebook.com/events/192633217991402/ |
