Tuesday, November 30th at 8pm: The Jazz Record Art Collective is proud to present the Eric Jacobson Quintet performing a Tribute to trumpeter and composer Lee Morgan. The evening will also feature live art by Ryan Miller! BACKGROUND: "Lee Morgan was an American jazz trumpeter and composer. He was one of the key hard bop musicians of the 1960s, Morgan came to prominence in his late teens, recording on John Coltrane's Blue Train (1957) and with the band of drummer Art Blakey before launching a solo career. He was a leader and a sideman of players like Hank Mobley and Wayne Shorter and become a cornerstone of the Blue Note label. Morgan died at the age of 33 when his wife Helen shot and killed him following a confrontation at Slugs' Saloon, in New York City."
